Entertainment News Article | Reuters.com: "SANTA MARIA, Calif. (Reuters) - The Michael Jackson child molestation trial is set to begin in earnest with opening statements on Monday as eight alternate jurors were picked to complete the panel that will sit in judgment of the pop star.
Santa Barbara County Superior Court Judge Rodney Melville, who has pushed the pace of pretrial proceedings, on Thursday sent the 12 jurors and alternates home until next week with a stern caution to avoid talking about the case during what is expected to be a six-month trial.
'There's a real danger of jury misconduct in a case of this nature,' Melville said. 'It is extremely important that you follow the admonitions and not talk to anyone about this case. It's critical.' "
